WEDDING & CELEBRATION CAKE FAQ'S

Planning your perfect cake should be an exciting and stress-free experience.

To help, I’ve put together answers to the questions I’m most often asked about my wedding cakes, celebration cakes, and dessert tables. From booking your cake to choosing flavours and understanding delivery, you’ll find all the information you need right here.

General Questions

Q: Where are you based, and what areas do you serve?
I’m based in Pocklington, East Yorkshire, and I create bespoke cakes for both weddings and celebrations across Yorkshire, the North East, Lancashire, Cheshire, and beyond. Whether your venue is a rustic barn in Leeds, a luxury hotel in Harrogate, or even further afield, I can personally deliver and set up your cake to ensure it’s presented perfectly.

Q: How far in advance should I book my cake?

For wedding cakes, I recommend booking as early as possible – ideally 6 months to 2 years in advance – to secure your date, especially during peak wedding season. Celebration cakes typically require at least 4-6 weeks’ notice, but availability can vary, so it’s always best to enquire early.

Q: Can I book a date without a design consultation?
Absolutely! If you’re not ready for a design consultation, you can use my save-the-date service for £50. This secures your booking, and we can finalise the design and flavours closer to the event when it suits you.

Q: Do you have a minimum order size?
For wedding cakes, I usually cater to a minimum of 40 guests to ensure the cake fits the occasion. For celebration cakes, the size and design will depend entirely on your requirements, so feel free to reach out to discuss your specific needs.

Q: Do you offer wedding favours?
Yes! I create bespoke edible wedding favours, such as cookies, mini cakes, and other sweet treats. These can be tailored to match your wedding theme and colours.

Q: Can you provide cake stands?
Yes, I offer a range of cake stands for hire. We can discuss options during your consultation to ensure your cake is displayed beautifully.

Pricing & Payments

Q: How much do your cakes cost?
Prices vary depending on the size, design complexity, and flavours. As a guide, wedding cakes typically range from £450 to £650. Bespoke celebration cakes are priced individually based on your requirements.

Q: Do you require a deposit?
Yes, a non-refundable deposit is required to secure your booking. The remaining balance is due one month before your wedding or event.

Q: Is the consultation fee included in the price?
Yes, the £25 consultation fee is redeemable against the final cost of your cake.

Design & Personalisation

Q: Can you create a bespoke design?
Absolutely! Every cake I make is bespoke, tailored to your theme, venue, and personal style. Bring along your colour swatches, photos, or ideas, and we’ll collaborate to design something unique to you.

Q: Can you match my cake to my wedding flowers?
Yes, I specialise in lifelike sugar flowers that are handcrafted to match your wedding blooms. Guests often can’t believe they’re made from sugar!

Q: Can I request a specific flavour?
Of course! While I have a range of popular flavours like Raspberry & White Chocolate and Zesty Lemon, I’m happy to create a flavour profile unique to your taste.

Delivery & Setup

Q: Do you deliver and set up cakes and dessert tables?
Yes, I personally deliver and set up all wedding cakes, celebration cakes, and dessert tables to ensure they arrive safely and are displayed perfectly at your venue. This service is included in the cost of wedding cakes and dessert tables. For celebration cakes, delivery and setup are available as an optional service – please enquire for details.

Q: How far will you travel for delivery?
I’ve delivered cakes as far as Kent and Newcastle, so distance is rarely an issue. For venues outside Yorkshire or the North East, travel costs may apply, and I’m happy to provide a personalised quote based on your location.

Q: What happens if there’s an issue with the cake or dessert table on the day?
I take every precaution to ensure your cake or dessert table is flawless, from careful transportation to secure setup. However, if an issue arises, I’m just a phone call away and will do everything I can to resolve it promptly.

Flavours & Ingredients

Q: What flavours do you offer?

I offer a variety of flavours to suit every taste, from crowd favourites like Raspberry & White Chocolate to rich Sticky Toffee Cake and nostalgic Ginger Cake. To ensure perfect flavour combinations, I make my own curds, coulis, and signature buttercream. You can explore the full list of my popular flavours here.

Q: Can you cater to dietary requirements?
While I cannot guarantee allergen-free cakes due to my home-baking environment, which is not nut-free, I do my best to accommodate dietary needs. For guests with specific requirements, such as gluten-free or dairy-free options, I can provide individual cupcakes as an addition to your main cake. This ensures everyone can enjoy a sweet treat on your special day.

Q: Can I include dessert tables with my order?
Yes! Dessert tables are a perfect way to complement your wedding or celebration cake, offering an elegant array of treats such as cupcakes, macarons, cookies, and more. These are beautifully styled to match your theme and provide a variety of flavours and options for your guests.

Q: Are your cakes made fresh?
Yes, every cake is baked fresh in my home kitchen using the finest ingredients. From the sponge to the fillings, I take pride in crafting cakes that are as delicious as they are beautiful.

Q: Can I freeze leftover cake?

Yes, most sponge cakes can be frozen for up to 3 months. Wrap individual slices in cling film and store them in an airtight container to maintain freshness.

Tasting Consultations

Q: What happens during a tasting consultation?
Tasting consultations are held in my home in Pocklington. You’ll have the opportunity to sample up to 6 cake flavours while we discuss your vision, theme, and personal style. You can bring up to 2 guests to join you, and refreshments (bubbles, soft drinks, tea, or coffee) will be provided.

Q: Is there a fee for the consultation?
Yes, the consultation fee is £25, but this is redeemable against the final cost of your cake.

Q: What should I bring to the consultation?
Bring along any colour swatches, inspiration photos, or Pinterest boards that reflect your style. These will help guide the design process for your bespoke cake.
